Boys Tryout Update 12.09.25
Please note that there have been some updates to the boys program that we can offer this year. Please see below for update to tryout information.
17u and 18u Boys will now merge to make ONE team, playing within the OVA’s 18u age division.
Tryouts for the 18u team will take place Monday September 15th @ Fellowes High School from 6:30 – 8:30, and Wednesday September 17th @ St. Joes in Renfrew.
Extended Age
17u Athletes born between September 1st, 2009 and December 31st, 2009 are permitted to try out for the 16u Boys team (tryouts will take place Tuesday September 16th @ Highview, and Wednesday September 17th @ Bishop Smith.
PLEASE NOTE: athletes are permitted to try out for ONE team only, the 17/18u team, OR the 16u Team. (i.e. if a player in the extended age category tries out for the 16u team and is not successful, they are not permitted to then try out for the 17u/18u team)
Open House Sessions
Open House Sessions begin next week, please see post for age groupings. Please note you did NOT have to pre-register to attend open house sessions. There will still be a $20.00 fee for the two nights, however we can not guarantee that the athlete will receive a t-shirt if they did not pre-register. Payment can be made the first night of each session (Cash or Cheque payable to Ottawa Valley Vikings Volleyball Club. There will be a parent information session at the beginning of the first night of each age group night (8th and 9th).

Please NOTE! Athletes did NOT have to attend open house sessions, OR pre-register, however Athletes MUST register in MRS as a TRYOUT PLAYER ($0) PRIOR to attending a tryout. This covers your OVA Liabilities. The Ottawa Valley Vikings are Region 6.
PROOF of registration will be required at the start of each tryout, print or screenshot.
The ATHLETE is the one who registers, if a parent is doing the registration USE THE PLAYERS NAME AND EMAIL. (when applicable). There are steps available on the OVA website, and a lil YouTube video if you are having trouble.

NO ATHLETE CAN TRYOUT FOR ANY CLUB WITHOUT BEING REGISTERED IN MRS AS A TRYOUT PLAYER. It’s quick to become a NEW MEMBER and a TRYOUT PLAYER.
Please ensure athletes attend the age appropriate session and location. There will be a minimum of TWO tryout sessions prior to team selection and announcement.

There is no fee and no commitment to pre-register. Pre-registering allows us to plan resources like coaches, gym space, administration, and equipment. It also ensures that you will receive important emails regarding tryouts.
Open House sessions are TENTATIVELY SCHEDULED to be held at FELLOWES HIGH SCHOOL September 8th and 10th 6:30-8:30pm. There will be a cost of $20.00 to attend the sessions which includes the cost of a T-Shirt. To be paid the first open house session the athlete attends. Cash or Cheque payable to Ottawa Valley Vikings Volleyball Club. More information about open house sessions to follow. Please NOTE, open house sessions are NOT tryout sessions. Open House sessions are an opportunity for athletes to come out, and get some on court time prior to tryout sessions. If athletes do not attend open house sessions they are still able to try out for the 2025-26 season. We do strongly encourage pre-registration regardless.
The Ottawa Valley Vikings will be holding tryouts for ALL athletes (Male and Female) between the ages of 13-18. The details of the tryout process will be communicated as it becomes available.

YOUTH Co-Ed 4 on 4 Beach League
Register now for some 4 on 4 beach volleyball fun this summer. Wednesday nights from July 9th to August 6th inclusive at the Alice and Fraser Larocque Courts from 6pm – 8pm. Cost is $30 a player. Teams can be 4 female, or mixed 2 female and 2 male. If playing co-ed there has to be at least 2 females on the court. Open to athletes 14u – 18u.
