The 16u Viking Raiders travelled to Ottawa this past weekend to compete in their second event of their season. The Raiders finished pool play undefeated. They defeated the Seaway Smash Vortex two straight in the quarter final, and went on to play a tough Titanium green team in the semi-finals, loosing 25-23, and 25-21 to move them to the bronze medal game where they faced our 16u Brutes. It was a close, spirited game that saw the Raiders edge out the Brutes 25-20, 25-20 to win bronze. Congrats to all athletes and coaches on an incredible day.

The 13u Warriors traveled to Peterborough on Saturday January 18th to compete in their McGregor Cup, the third tournament of their season. The Warriors finished morning pool play second in their pool with a win over the Durham Rebels Rage. In their quarterfinal match they beat Peterborough Thunder two straight. In semifinal action they lost a close match with the Ottawa Fusion Red team, and moved on to face the Kingston Rock Grit in the bronze medal match. It was a back and forth nail biter that had the Warriors winning the first, Kingston the second, and an absolute battle in the third that had the Warriors winning 15-13 to bring home bronze. The 14u Shield Maidens win silver at home in their Challenge Cup. In their second tournament of the season the Shield Maidens finished the morning pool in second place with wins over the Ottawa Vally Vikings Sigrun, and Cornwall Vikings Vanir. In their quarter final matchup they beat the Maverick Rattlers 2-0. They faced a very tough Northern Chill Ice Storm team in the semi finals, taking them to a very exciting third set, and edged them 16-14 in game three to go to the gold medal game against Ottawa Fusion Purple. The Vikings played hard, but were beat by a talented Fusion squad, and won their first Silver medal. Congrats to all athletes and coaches!
